Originally learning classical guitar from the age of 8, Sues love of rhythm determined a career as a percussionist and drummer. Having a father as a professional trumpet player exposed her to jazz and big band music from an early age. Sue is a graduate of the VCA and Melbourne Uni, majoring in orchestral percussion. She has performed in a wide variety of musical settings, including musical theatre pit shows, concert bands, wind symphonies, orchestras and jazz festivals.
An original member of Melbourne’s Itchy Feet Pep Band, Sue enjoys teaching the ‘joy of hitting things in time’ to her many students. Current projects include The Melba Big Band and Astor Swing Jazz Band.
